Executive Director Tom Blaha, along with WCEDC members Ed Ciecka (City of Rossford) and Attorney Rex Huffman, accompanied Ohio Lt. Governor Lee Fisher and Northern Wood County Port Authority chairman Mike Scott on a recent visit to the Nippon Sheet Glass Co.(NSG) in Tokyo, Japan.
The purpose of the visit was to establish a relationship with NSG, which became the parent company of Pilkington LOF-a major Wood County employer-- last year. The objective was to generate a greater awareness within NSG of its acquired operations in Wood County, Ohio, and to encourage the company to consider further investments in these facilities, as well as to consider Ohio for any additional investments in any of its business units that the company may consider in the future.
The Rossford-Wood County-Ohio delegation were graciously hosted by Mr. Yozo Izuhara, Chairman & CEO of Nippon Sheet Glass and Mr. Takao Kawasaki, President of NSG's Global Flat Glass Business.
The successful meeting accomplished all its objectives, and laid the groundwork for ongoing partnering between the community and the company in what is an increasingly competitive global marketplace.
While on the trip, members of the delegation were able to attend the 39th Annual Joint Meeting of the Midwest U.S.-Japan Association in Tokyo as well as the Japan-U.S. Investment Initiative Seminar in Osaka.
